President Donald Trump said Wednesday while discussing the unmasking of Trump associates that former top Obama administration official Susan Rice may have committed a crime.

Trump was speaking to the press in the Oval Office when he declared that he thinks former President Obama's national security adviser may have committed a crime, the New York Times reports.

"I think it's going to be the biggest story," Trump said. "It's such an important story for our country and the world. It is one of the big stories of our time."

Trump was asked if he believes Rice engaged in criminal activity.

"Do I think? Yes, I think," Trump replied.

Trump did not offer any evidence to support his claim. The president also did not name any other officials from the Obama administration.

Rice has denied that she did anything improper or illegal.

Staffers from the Obama administration have been accused of unmasking and leaking the identities of individuals whose conversations were incidentally collected during the investigation into Russia's influence in the 2016 presidential election.
