MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell: Gorsuch Hearing Was a 'Slam Dunk'

MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell on Tuesday gave President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch top marks on the first part of his Senate confirmation hearing.

"I think that this has been a slam dunk in terms of his initial Q's and A's," Mitchell told MSNBC's Brian Williams.

"You'll see some of the more intensive questioning, but they have not, as you put it, laid a glove on him," she said.

Mitchell reported that Democrats "are getting criticized by the left wing of the party for not going after him harder."

"But they have not been able to shake this guy," she said. "He is obviously the consummate witness and very much a good performer in the hot seat, there."

Mitchell suggested that Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D., Calif.) might go back to examine Gorsuch's writings as a Justice Department lawyer to see if there were any vulnerabilities, "but so far he has not been shaken."
