Hillary Clinton has canceled her planned fireworks display for her election night party in New York City.
Coast Guard officials told TMZ on Monday that Clinton's presidential campaign called off the fireworks show, which was meant to be displayed over the Hudson River as a victory celebration after the election results were announced. The display would be visible from her election night party being held at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan.
Clinton's campaign contacted the Coast Guard on Thursday to say they would not be shooting off the 10' aerial shells two days after plans for the fireworks display became public. New York City law enforcement had been preparing for the big event.
NYPD Chief of Intelligence Tommy Galati addressed the issue Monday at a press conference on Election Day security.
"They do have a permit for fireworks, but at this point we believe the fireworks is canceled," Galati said, according to the New York Post.
The campaign offered the coast guard no explanation for the change.
