Bill Clinton said his wife Hillary was stricken with "the flu" during a campaign event on Wednesday, when she reportedly has pneumonia.

Speaking in Las Vegas, the former president said he was glad to have a chance to stand in for her while she’s recuperating.

"I just talked to her," he said. "She’s feeling great, and I think she’ll be back out there tomorrow. It’s a crazy time we live in, you know, when people think there’s something unusual about getting the flu. Last time I checked, millions of people were getting it every year."

Hillary Clinton has been off the campaign trail this week after revealing a pneumonia diagnosis on Sunday. That day, she collapsed and had to be helped into a van while leaving the 9/11 memorial in New York City. Later on, her campaign said that she had been diagnosed with pneumonia two days earlier but had kept it to herself.
