MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace said Tuesday morning that she was uncomfortable watching Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) lambast Wall Street with Hillary Clinton standing next to her at a campaign rally for the presumptive Democratic nominee.
Wallace’s comments came when Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski asked if she noticed Warren’s s attacks on Wall Street after seeing clips from a joint rally for Clinton on Monday.
"So, you noticed that," Brzezinski said. "Her sharpness on Wall Street–"
Wallace interjected, describing how she was uncomfortable listening to what Warren was saying about the financial industry, citing one of Warren’s old books and Clinton’s close ties to Wall Street.
"I thought– I got uncomfortable listening to the things that Elizabeth Warren said about Wall Street, which were captured in her first book, which was pretty tough on the Clintons, with Hillary standing right there," Wallace said. "I thought it was proof that she– I thought it was almost a victory lap she pulled Clinton over to her side on those issues."
Co-host Joe Scarborough jumped in to note that Wallace had said she got sweaty watching Warren speak.
Wallace laughed and explained that Clinton has not attacked Wall Street until she struggled to secure the Democratic nomination.
"I got nervous because that really wasn’t Hillary’s message until she sort of got into hot water," Wallace said. "It's become her message, absolutely."
Scarborough then took another dig at Clinton.
"Well, she hangs out with gazillionaires," he said. "I mean, she’s one of them."
Voters and commentators have repeatedly called on Clinton to release the transcripts of speeches she gave to Wall Street firms in recent years for large sums of money. Clinton has undergone scrutiny for refusing to publicize the transcripts, with critics arguing that they want to know what she said in her speeches to warrant the amount of money that she was given.
