A man carrying two guns and a copy of the Quran was arrested at a hotel at Disneyland Paris, according to French media reports.
The 28-year-old man was detained by police Thursday when attempting to book a room at Disney’s Hotel New York, which is within walking distance from Disney Village and a brief shuttle ride from the park. The individual was carrying two firearms and ammunition, in addition to a copy of the Quran.
"During a routine security screening checkpoint at one of our hotels, weapons were discovered in a guest’s luggage through our X-ray machine. The police were immediately notified," François Banon, communications chief for Disneyland Paris, said in a statement. "We continue to work closely with the authorities, and the safety and security of our guests and cast members is our utmost priority."
A young woman was reportedly with the man but fled the scene. The Associated Press, citing a French police official, reported that the woman was detained at the park shortly after the man’s arrest.
The reports come just over two months after the coordinated terror attacks in Paris killed 130 people and wounded hundreds of others. Terror group ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attacks, which led France to declare a state of emergency and close its borders.
