On Sunday, the panel of ABC’s This Week panned Hillary Clinton's performance on the campaign trail, saying the Democratic candidate is "not on her game."
ABC News’ Cokie Roberts said Hillary performed poorly in her big national interview.
"She's not on her game in these interviews, she's just not there yet," Roberts said.
CNN’s Van Jones, an outspoken liberal activist, said Clinton was checking a box by playing nice with the press.
"I think she was kind of pushed into it," Jones said. "She had that horrible moment where they got pictures of having ropes pulling reporters away from her. That looked terrible. After the moving rope, I think she had to do something and she did something. She checks the box."
Clinton was condemned last week after press members were kept away from the candidate with ropes, treatment that Jones compared to "cattle herding."
Earlier in the panel, Roberts said the Clinton campaign was attempting to portray the candidate as a benign and gentle matron.
"That somewhat plays into the grandmother theme," Roberts said. "Your grandmother is there when you need her. That's the way of dealing with this age issue. That's going to be a real issue."
Clinton is 67 years old.
