Report of Gunshot Draws Law Enforcement to D.C.-Area Medical Center

Police are investigating a report of a single gunshot at Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, WUSA reports.

Multiple law enforcement agencies have descended on the medical campus just outside of Washington, D.C., after the shot was reported before 11 a.m.

Employees have been told to shelter in place.

Police received the call for a single shot heard at 10:48 a.m, say Montgomery County police officials. They are working with federal partners, including NCIS, at the scene. A Maryland State Police helicopter flew over the scene as officers, some in uniform and with guns drawn, searched the campus. Montgomery County fire crews are also at the scene. There have been no reports of any victims and no confirmation of any shooter.

UPDATE 2:56 P.M.: Hours after the initial report of gunshot, police confirmed that no evidence of a shooting at the medical center had been found. An all clear was issued to employees Monday afternoon.
