Marcia Freedman called for the end of Israel's status as a Jewish state during a speech at last week's J-Street conference, arguing that the Jewish people should accept being a "protected minority" in an Arab Palestine.
The notion was cheered by the J-Street crowd.
The video, courtesy of Algemeiner, shows Freedman challenging the idea of the Jewish state.
"Israel must become exactly what it is not today," said Freedman. "It must become a true democracy in all respects ... then I think we can begin to imagine a Jewish homeland for a homeland for the Jewish people in which we are a minority."
Algemeiner notes that none of the other members of the panel that Freedman was on challenged her on this point, and also that J-Street U, the group's college branch, celebrated the notion on Twitter.
Marcia Freedman believes that the idea that a jewish homeland requires a Jewish majority needs to be examined more closely. #JSt2015
