Syrian President Bashar al-Assad appeared in an interview with BBC on Tuesday, suggesting that the Syrian government is informed about the United States led coalition airstrikes against the Islamic State.
Assad said he knew about the campaign before it started but did not know the details. Assad has received information from third parties including Iraq, but has not received direct correspondence from the United States and its allies.
"There is no dialogue. There is information but no dialogue," Assad said.
Assad has come under global scrutiny after a peaceful uprising against his rule in 2011 when the government forces began killing rebels.
Global focus on Syria has shifted since the rise of IS. The fighting in the country has forced millions of Syrians to leave their homes.
