Earnest: Locking The Door 'One Of The Reforms Secret Service Put In Place' After WH Breach

October 21, 2014

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said that locking the door was "one of the reforms the Secret Service put in place" after the White House security breach in September, he told Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson.

"What changes have there been at the White House following the shocking lapses of security that we saw weeks ago? Is the door locked now?" Robinson asked. "I mean, seriously, what has changed?"

"Well, that is one of the reforms the Secret Service put in place right away," Earnest said.

This bold reform comes as the new acting director, Joseph Clancy, coordinates with the Department of Homeland Security in reviewing Secret Service policies to prevent another security breach.

"There's an ongoing review being run by my colleagues at DHS just across the street here who are looking at what broader changes need to be put in place to ensure the security of the White House," Earnest said. "We’re expecting that report in a couple of weeks."
