Anti-Israel Protesters Gather Outside Washington Wizards v. Maccabe Haifa Game

October 16, 2014

Wednesday night's Washington Wizards preseason game against the Maccabe Haifa basketball team drew a crowd of pro-Palestinian protesters.

A crowd gathered outside the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., waving Palestinian flags and shouting anti-Israel sentiments such as "Israel Kills."

Another protester shouted, "We support Wizards, not bullets," alluding to the Washington Wizards previous team name, the Washington Bullets.

One protester held a sign that read "Washington Wizards v. Israeli Bullets #FreePalestine."

A number of pro-Palestinian protesters made their way into the game as well, holding Palestinian flags that appeared to block the view of some in the crowd behind them.

One fan said on Instagram, "Protest at this NBA game: supposed to be the Wizards against Israel, but more so Israel against Palestine."
