Politico has tapped Adam Levine’s uncle to lead its labor beat, according to a Wednesday Playbook item.

Timothy Noah, champion of bad customer service, former editor of the New Republic and, more importantly, uncle of the Maroon 5 frontman, will assume control of the subscription-based Politico Pro, where he will oversee its labor coverage.

Per Mike Allen:

Marty Kady emails the staff: "Timothy Noah will be taking the helm of our new Pro Labor and Employment vertical, which will launch later this fall. ...Tim has a remarkable history in political and policy writing, and ... most recently he has been a writer for MSNBC, and he has also been a senior editor and writer at The New Republic, where he wrote the 'TRB From Washington' column.

Noah is a longtime champion of redistribution to alleviate inequality. He is unapologetically pro-union, writing in that modern liberalism has betrayed its working-class supporters. He has made "reviving the labor movement" his mission.

No challenge facing liberalism today is more important—or more difficult—than that of reviving the labor movement. Yet liberals show little enthusiasm for this task. The truth is that liberals and labor leaders bear little regard for one another. Such mutual alienation is an indulgence that neither group can afford.

Adam Levine could not be reached for comment.
