Unlikely That Private Coal Convo Between Grimes and Reid Happened

Footage puts Kentucky Dem claims in question

Kentucky Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes claims that she delivered "strong" words to Sen. Harry Reid (D., Nev) to express how "livid" she was at new EPA regulations targeting coal, but video captured by America Rising shows that Reid entered the event late and left without Grimes.

Audio of the private fundraiser attended by Reid reveals that Grimes failed to mention the coal issue at all during the nearly hour long event.

An attendee of the event said that "there is no way" Grimes could have had a private conversation with Reid.

Prior to the event, the Grimes campaign pledged that the fundraiser with Reid would be used to express to him how "livid" she was about the new EPA plan.

"Alison is absolutely livid about the new rule and plans to use the event to share the stories of how Kentuckians are hurting and demand that the Senate take action to invest in clean coal technology," said a Grimes spokeswoman ahead of the fundraiser.

The Grimes campaign following the event said that she "stressed that we need a comprehensive, balanced approach that reins in the EPA, invests in clean coal technology and keeps foreign markets open for Kentucky coal" during the fundraiser.

The campaign does not dispute the authenticity of the audio captured of the fundraiser, but contends that the "strong" words were delivered in a separate conversation.

The America Rising footage confirms that Reid entered the event alone, further proving the attendees contention that there is no way this conversation could have occurred.
