Jon Allen, coauthor of the newly released HRC book that details the former Secretary of State’s political career, appeared on the Don Imus show and said that Team Clinton is making excuses for Clinton’s "What difference does it make?" remark.
The remark was made at a hearing about Benghazi.
"With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans," Clinton said to Sen. Ron Johnson (R.,Wis.). "Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night decided to go kill some Americans? What difference at this point does it make?"
Imus told Allen that Clinton’s comment was hard for him to stomach.
Allen recounted that during his conversations with her staff, they revealed that one of her aides had made almost that same remark during a prep session and claimed that that was possibly where Clinton’s comment originated.
"Well, that sounds like an excuse to me," Imus told Allen.
"Yes, I agree with you- I think that’s exactly what it was," Allen responded.
