White House Press Secretary Jay Carney released groundbreaking insight into his job during Tuesday’s daily press briefing, saying, "you know, communications are challenging here."
Carney’s complaint about his job came in response to a question from Fox News’ Ed Henry about the President’s remarks in September that those with healthcare "don’t have to do anything".
ED HENRY: Jay, obviously the words the President said three years ago have been picked over many times but what about what is it just over a month ago, September 26 in Maryland he had an event right before the actual rollout. One of the things he said was quote "If you already have health care you don't have to do anything." You can only say that was not true, right?
JAY CARNEY: Look, as I said last week, I accept that, you know --communications are challenging here. The president -- you have to remember that the affordable care act --
HENRY: That's not true. You had to anticipate this; you’ve been bashing insurance companies for kicking people off all the time. We knew that even before the affordable care act kicked him. So how did that get in the president's remarks? Nobody at the white house knew that, in fact, if you have health care there could be changes?
Carney continued to refuse to say whether or not any of the President’s past remarks were not true. When further pushed by Henry on the President’s statement days before the rollout, Carney could only respond:
CARNEY: Look, I accept, and I’m not going to argue with you, that there’s a lot of focus on a slice of 5% of the population.
