Giant KFC Bucket Appears in Georgia Family's Front Yard

'Maybe we'll get giant mashed potatoes next to it'

A family in Waynesboro, Ga., found a 7-foot-tall KFC bucket deposited in their front yard, WAGT-26 reports:

If you saw it from the highway, and you can most definitely see it from the highway, you might be surprised to find out this isn't KFC. This is someone's front yard.

Aleena Headrick was taken aback by the large KFC bucket in her yard, "I was driving by, I saw this giant Kentucky Fried Chicken bucket in my yard, and I thought for sure I was hallucinating, so I called my teenagers who were at home and had them go outside."

And I know what you're thinking....the answer is no. There is no chicken in that seven foot bucket. Headrick tells me it appeared Thursday afternoon and she had no idea where it came from or who it belongs to. Maybe it's a sign. We've heard of heavenly manna, but what about original recipe?

Headrick loved the idea, and decided to share it with her friends, "Too often we just need something to laugh about and so I put it on Facebook and told them that I would bring chicken to the next potluck."

The bucket has already become a popular landmark. Headrick says people have been stopping to take pictures with it. But I don't imagine anyone can steal it easily. I know from experience, it's very hard to move.

Headrick's already thinking about making a "meal" of it, "Maybe we'll get giant mashed potatoes next to it."

About the owner, we found him. Freddie Taylor is Headrick's landlord.  He collects signs like this, purchased it and had it dropped off on his property; and he says the bucket is quite a find, "That bucket right there, if you notice it, it doesn't say KFC. It says Kentucky Fried Chicken. That bucket's probably forty years old."

Taylor plans to have it mounted on a pole so it will be permanently displayed for all to see. Headrick isn't mad.

She says it will make her house hard to miss, "It's unusual but it makes really landmarks to our house. We can just say, "come down to the giant KFC bucket and turn right."

For those who come to the house looking for "finger lickin' good" chicken, they'll have to drive another six miles.

Update 3:36 P.M.: FoxNews.com reports KFC will provide a free chicken picnic for the family in the shadow of their chicken bucket:

"KFC has offered to cater a picnic for Ms. Headrick, her family and friends to celebrate the coolest lawn art in Waynesboro. It would be fun to enjoy a KFC meal in the shadow of a giant KFC bucket," KFC spokesman Rick Maynard told FoxNews.com.

[...]

"After all, the only thing better than a KFC picnic is a free KFC picnic," said Maynard. "They already have the bucket, so we think they deserve the chicken to go with it."
