Pelosi: Until Background Checks Pass, Gun Control 'Will Never Go Away'

House Minority Leader vows to continue push for gun control

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) vowed that Congressional gun control efforts will continue until Congress passes background check legislation Thursday on Andrea Mitchell Reports.

Despite relative inaction in Congress since the failure of the Toomey/Manchin bill last April, Pelosi dismissed the notion that Democrats and other gun control advocates have lost any of their fervor.

The former House Speaker also attempted to absolve Democrats of responsibility for the failure of the legislation in the Senate, despite the fact that four Democrats voted against it.

Pelosi's foray into the gun control debate comes after reports that New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's gun control advocacy organization Mayors Against Illegal Guns plans to institute a renewed push for gun control on the state and federal level.
