Krystal Ball foretells Democrat dollars

MSNBC contributor and Democratic strategist Krystal Ball was spotted at a Virginia fundraising brunch on Sunday.

A photograph on Facebook shows Ball attending a fundraiser for the Fairfax County Democratic Party on June 10.

Ball is under contract by MSNBC to bring her considerable political experience—a failed run for Congress in 2010—to viewers. In November 2011, MSNBC suspended anchor Keith Olbermann after it was reported he had donated to three Democratic candidates in the most recent election cycle.

NBC News policy does not prohibit employees from donating to political candidates, but it does require them to obtain prior approval from NBC News executives. It is unclear if Ball obtained prior approval.

Ball is also, according to her Huffington Post bio, a "former Congressional candidate and Democratic Strategist; in addition to being a Certified Public Accountant, software engineer, small business owner and mother."

MSNBC’s public relations office could not be reached via telephone, because the number listed on MSNBC’s website for press inquiries connected instead to the City of Cleveland’s Office for Economic Development.

A request for comment via email was not immediately returned.
