MSNBC's Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski on Wednesday took shots at former president Barack Obama during her defense of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
"Let's try something new for a change. How about someone with experience? Every time someone has experience it's 'Oh he might be too old.' Really? Really? Think about it. Don't you want someone who's been there, who's been serving, who wants to go back to Washington, which can be a horrible snake pit," Brzezinski said.
"Here's the pitch for Joe Biden. He's been there. He's done that and he wants to go back and serve and so does his wife Jill. And guess what? He knows world leaders," Brzezinski continued. "He knows what our place on the world stage should be and he knows how to get there because he's been there."
She then briefly praised Obama before citing him as an example of an inexperienced leader.
"I loved Barack Obama. He symbolized a lot of things that we needed for this country, but did he have experience?" Brzezinski asked. "Did he really govern or just pass executive orders and do a lot of things in a way that now have led to how things are happening today. Who did he hand the keys to the White House to?"
Between 2009 and 2017, Obama issued 276 executive orders, according to the Office of Federal Register.
Brzezinski went on to say that if the United States wants to move forward, then the Democratic nominee has to have "experience."
"Joe Biden, at this point, could take every criticism you have against him and turn it around into a positive," Brzezinski said. "If you want to move forward, you actually have to have experience at doing these things, in foreign policy, in the Senate, in the White House. Who's got that in the Democratic field? Who's got that? Nobody."
Some Democrats have expressed concern over Biden's age and a series of gaffes over the last few months. Anti-Israel progressive activist Linda Sarsour on Sunday tweeted that voters should worry about Biden's "overall health" after he said he was in Vermont when he was actually speaking in New Hampshire.
While speaking to reporters in Keene, N.H., on Saturday, Biden addressed concerns from voters about his age, saying, "I say if they're concerned, don't vote for me," the Los Angeles Times reported.
