WH Official Attends Secret Soros Confab

A senior White House official attended a secretive meeting with a cadre of left-wing organizations last week.

Jon Carson, a 2008 Obama organizer and current head of the White House’s Office of Public Engagement, reportedly attended a meeting with the Democracy Alliance, a collection of ultra-wealthy liberal donors formed in 2005.

Politico reports:

Carson was scheduled to deliver remarks to Democracy Alliance members, according to a source with knowledge of the meeting. The White House didn’t respond to questions about the subject of Carson’s remarks or whether he helped raise money for the super PACs, but the source said Carson did not attend a Saturday morning session at which Democracy Alliance officials and members made pitches for the super PACs.

At that session, which was presided over by Democracy Alliance co-founder Rob Stein, members were given a presentation on the roles and fundraising of various Democratic super PACs and other outside groups. Hedge fund financier Donald Sussman, who is married to Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-Maine)—was slated to make the case for donations to House Majority PAC, to which he has contributed at least $150,000. ...

Ahead of the Alliance meeting, Soros, who has already donated a combined $175,000 to Majority PAC and House Majority PAC, pledged $1 million each to American Bridge 21st Century, a super PAC that provides opposition research, and America Votes, a nonprofit group focusing on state-based organizing. Though America Votes does not disclose its donors, Soros has donated to it in each of the past three years.
