MSNBC hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski debated NBC's and CNN's plans to produce a Hillary Clinton biopic and documentary (respectively) Wednesday on "Morning Joe."
Scarborough expressed his opinion that a splashy Clinton biopic from NBC would be a "problem" for the network going into the 2016 campaign cycle.
Brzezinski criticized RNC Chairman Reince Priebus' threat to institute a GOP primary debate boycott of CNN and NBC over the proposed productions because Republicans already have Fox News as their "mouthpiece."
Scarborough reacted incredulously, asking Brzezinski what she thought the difference between Fox and MSNBC's primetime programming is.
The segment quickly devolved into laughter as Scarborough anxiously expressed concern he may have jeopardized his career by equating his liberal employer to Fox:
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: I think is a very interesting discussion, Mike. But I think the elephant in the room is Fox, that Reince is sort of leaving out.
JOE SCARBOROUGH: I am so confused by that.
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Why doesn't he come on?
JOE SCARBOROUGH: Well Reince will come on, but I don't understand every time you bring up Fox you got to bring up MSNBC.
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Well not really.
MIKE ALLEN: An on air booking.
JOE SCARBOROUGH: Why not?
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Because I don't see MSNBC going after Democratic presidential candidates and trying to hire them, or trying to push them into the forefront. Everything you read is that Roger Ailes gets behind Republican candidates, he hires them, he puts them on the air. It is a mouthpiece for the Republican party. It is.
JOE SCARBOROUGH: And so ok, here we go. I'm sorry I can't be quiet here. What do you think MSNBC is at night?
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: It is not the same at all.
JOE SCARBOROUGH: It is exactly the same!
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: I don't think so.
JOE SCARBOROUGH: Well of course you don't think so because you are a Democrat. Whereas I am fair minded and down the middle and in so much trouble right now I really need to be calling my agent. Willie back to you.
WILLIE GEIST: Joe, it was a great run.
JOE SCARBOROUGH: Yeah it was a great run this has been a great 6 1/2 years. You know Mika, she did that on purpose. She set me up.
