President Donald Trump tweeted Friday that he "took a pass" at being Time Magazine's 2017 "person of the year."
Trump claims Time told him that he would probably be named person of the year for the second time and he responded "probably" wasn't good enough.
"Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named "Man (Person) of the Year," like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!," Trump tweeted Friday evening.

The magazine tweeted out a statement that disputed Trump's claim.
"The President is incorrect about how we choose Person of the Year," TIME tweeted. "TIME does not comment on our choice until publication, which is December 6."

Time's Chief Content Officer Alan Murray also weighed in on the incident.
"Amazing. Not a speck of truth here--Trump tweets he 'took a pass' at being named TIME's person of the year," Murray tweeted as he provided a link to a CNN article about the story.

Before entering politics, in January 1989, Trump was featured on the cover of Time magazine once. After he defeated Hillary Clinton, he was named the magazine's "person of the year" in 2016.
Trump frequently talks about how many times he has been on the cover of Time.
