Nunes Says There Was No FISA Warrant for Trump Tower

Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Rep. Devin Nunes (R., Calif.) said on Sunday that he was not aware of a warrant to wiretap Trump Tower.

Fox News host Chris Wallace asked Nunes about President Donald Trump's claims that former President Barack Obama wiretapped Trump Tower during the 2016 election. A Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant would be legally necessary for Trump Tower to have been wiretapped.

"There was no FISA warrant that I'm aware of to tap Trump Tower," Nunes said.

"And that's after you received this information?" Wallace asked.

"That's accurate," Nunes replied.

The information Wallace and Nunes were referring to was information provided to the House Intelligence Committee by the FBI.

On Monday, Nunes will chair a public committee hearing on the investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election.
