Brzezinski: 'The Women in the White House Are a Sorry Example of Where We Should Be'

November 28, 2017

MSNBC "Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski on Tuesday shamed White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders for standing up for President Donald Trump after he again referred to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) as "Pocahontas" on Monday.

Host Joe Scarborough was talking about Alabama's 2017 special election for the U.S. Senate when he hypothesized that women will come out for Democratic candidate Doug Jones.

His comment on "women" inspired Brzezinski to change the subject entirely.

"Speaking of women, the women in the White House are a sorry example of where we should be. It is so sad to watch what is happening with the women in the White House," Brzezinski said.

She hypothesized that some others, such as Chief of Staff John Kelly, would see Trump's Pocahontas comments in a less favorable light.

"How do you think John Kelly would have handled the briefing? Do you think he would have lied and said the things that you said, Sarah Huckabee Sanders? Do you think he would have defended that language? Do you think he really would have allowed that to happen?" Brezinski said.

"All right, so Willie–" Scarborough offered, attempting to change the subject.

"Because this is what I'm saying. I cannot watch a woman go out there and shill for this president and shill for his racism and bigotry. It is so painful. We do not need this," Brzezinski said.
