Liberals on social media stopped pretending to care about Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) on Tuesday after he voted "yea" on a motion to begin debate on health care legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

McCain returned to Washington, D.C. on Tuesday after his office announced last week that the 80-year-old senator had been diagnosed with brain cancer. Minutes before he voted, liberals and a few journalists warned McCain on social media that if he voted in favor of moving forward with the GOP health care legislation, he would ruin his legacy.
