An Iowa boy allowed a perfect spiral to fall through his hands and hit him in the face on Monday prompting a media uproar against Republican Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.).
While campaigning, Rubio took time out of his busy schedule to throw a perfect pass to a local boy. Despite the ball being placed in the boy's outstretched hands, it slipped through his grip and the media pounced on the presidential candidate.
"How You Don't Get Votes! Senator Marco Rubio Hits Kid in the Head With Football," a headline at Sports Grid said.
"Rubio hits kid with football, becomes meme," Politico's headline read.
"Marco Rubio prepares for Dolphins season by hitting a kid in the face with a pass," the Washington Post wrote.
"WATCH: Rubio hits kid in face with football," The Hill's headline said.
The boy was reportedly not injured by his inability to catch the football.
