Huckabee Sanders: We ‘Try Never to Be Concerned With Anything Dealing With Adam Schiff’

May 1, 2018

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Tuesday that the administration makes a habit of not being concerned about anything the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee does or says.

Asked about special counsel Robert Mueller’s questions for President Donald Trump that leaked Tuesday, Sanders said she was not able to comment on the matter. Daily Mail reporter Francesca Chambers specifically asked about a charge that the White House was behind the leak, and Sanders referred her to Trump's outside counsel for anything involving the investigation.

"I can't comment on anything regarding those questions, and I would refer you to the president’s outside counsel," Sanders said.

Chambers specified she was asking about the possibility of White House involvement, but Sanders said the matter was specific to the president and again referred her to the president's counsel. Chambers then asked whether the White House was concerned about Rep. Adam Schiff’s (D., Calif.) opinion that Mueller’s leaked questions indicate a focus on obstruction of justice.

"Is the White House concerned, as Congressman Adam Schiff has said, that so many of the questions point to obstruction of justice?" Chambers asked.

"We here at the White House try never to be concerned with anything dealing with Adam Schiff," Sanders replied, moving on to another reporter’s question.

Schiff has for months alleged there is "damning" evidence of Trump campaign collusion with Russia and obstruction of justice, despite the lack of proof. He claims Republicans are preventing the matter from being investigated fully.
