Republican candidate for governor of Virginia Ed Gillespie put out an explosive video on Twitter Friday about legalizing fireworks in Virginia.
Gillespie called for Virginia to legalize fireworks by going to neighboring Tennessee, where fireworks are legal, to shoot off a sample of what he believes Virginians should be able to use at home.
As John Philip Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever" played in the background, Gillespie spoke to the benefits of allowing fireworks to be sold in Virginia.
"Here in Virginia, our fireworks are pretty rinky dink," Gillespie said as he held a sparkler.
"In Virginia we're missing out on being able to create thousands of jobs and tens of millions of dollars in tax revenue, not to mention having some fun," Gillespie said.
Gillespie then said that he would fight for adults to be allowed to purchase fireworks.
In the end, Gillespie lit a fireworks container and ran. The result is beautiful.
As Va. governor, I will work to make fireworks legal here so we can celebrate 4th of July in true American fashion! pic.twitter.com/xvevts5RIs
