Andrea Soros Colombel, the daughter of liberal billionaire financier George Soros, recently cut a $500,000 check to the political action arm of Planned Parenthood, according to Federal Election Commission records.
Andrea made the $500,000 donation on Aug. 1 to Planned Parenthood Votes, the New York-based Super PAC affiliated with Planned Parenthood, filings show. The donation accounts for more than a quarter of the money that the group has raised so far this year, which shows $1.7 million in contributions between January and the end of August.
Andrea's contribution was the only one the group received throughout the entire month of August. Only 11 other donors have given to the group this year.
This is not the first time that Andrea Soros has given to Planned Parenthood Votes, as she sent $1.25 million to the political arm last year.
Andrea also gave $50,000 to the Hillary Victory Fund, a joint fundraising effort between Clinton's campaign, the Democratic National Committee (DNC), and more than 30 state Democratic parties, records show. She added $33,400 to the DNC and $25,000 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC). Andrea also gave tens of thousands to a number of Democratic campaigns and state parties.
Other Soros family members have also provided a steady stream of cash to the group in recent years.
In addition to Andrea, George Soros gave a $1 million to Planned Parenthood votes last year. Jonathan Soros, the chief executive officer of JS Capital Management LLC and George's son, gave two donations for a combined $2 million to the group.
The Soros family was among the top funders to Planned Parenthood Votes throughout the entire 2016 cycle.
