Dem Congressman: 'Best Way to Oppose Fake News Is to Watch Outlets Like MSNBC'

March 17, 2017

Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu (Calif.) got cozy with MSNBC on Thursday when he name-checked the news network as a remedy for opposing "fake news."

MSNBC host Ali Velshi asked Lieu about recently cosponsoring  a resolution that calls for "opposing fake news and alternative facts."

"The best way to oppose fake news is for people to watch outlets like MSNBC, where you report real news all the time," Lieu said. "And keep in mind, the president is scared that people will watch MSNBC, so you must be doing something right."

"Thanks for speaking truth to power," Lieu added.

Velshi responded by ensuring his viewers that the network did not offer "any enticement for that little plug."
