NBC reporter Chuck Todd doesn’t understand why former President Bill Clinton doesn’t step down from the Clinton Foundation.
In a recent NBC interview, Clinton said that he doesn’t see any perception problems with foreign donations that the Clinton Foundation received when his wife Hillary was Secretary of State.
"He insists he doesn't see any perception problems on this, and we see story after story," MSNBC host Jose Díaz-Balart said.
Over the past few weeks, there have been numerous stories about instances in which foreign individuals or governments donated to the Clinton Foundation and then lobbied the State Department.
"I think it was 180 people that had given the money and lobbied the State Department," Todd said. "The fact is, there are perception issues."
Now that Hillary Clinton has launched her presidential campaign, Clinton indicated that he might take a smaller role or step down from the foundation if his wife wins.
"He hints that he's going to step down from the foundation temporarily. It sounds like or that he's willing to do it. What I don't understand is why they don't just do it now," said Todd.
