Matthews: Obama a 'Genius President'

MSNBC host Chris Matthews took a trip down memory lane attacking President Bush's intelligence on "Hardball" Thursday evening.

Matthews contrasted George W. Bush with President Obama, who Matthews deemed to be a "genius president":

CHRIS MATTHEWS: There, again, I mean, there's George W. cracking a joke about not knowing something, as his victory statement. Hey, he's like me, I don't know anything more than you do about these things. And then we elect this genius president, Obama, he has his shortcomings, too. But it's always back and forth.

JONATHAN MARTIN: That's the story of the country.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Do we want an intellectual president? Do we want a wonk? Do we want a guy who's intellectually pointy headed? We got one in Bush sort of -- sorry, in Clinton and Obama.
