Chelsea Clinton on Wednesday condemned actions taken by the Environmental Protection Agency during the Obama administration, saying they were "disappointing" and "dangerous."

The former first daughter has become noticeably more outspoken on social media ever since her mother, Hillary Clinton, lost the 2016 presidential election. Clinton recently had to put to rest speculation that she was running for political office.

On Wednesday, she tweeted a story from STAT News revealing that the EPA decided to avoid tightening rules about lead levels in soil in the final days of the Obama administration. Clinton denounced the agency for its actions.

"During the last two years of the Obama administration, staff at the Environmental Protection Agency assured [local officials] nationwide that they would soon issue new, more stringent guidelines for assessing the risk of lead contamination in soil," STAT reported.

"But in the final days of the Obama administration, the EPA instead issued an internal memo–obtained by STAT–that sidestepped the issue of a specific new threshold for acceptable lead levels," the report continued. "The agency provided only general guidance on the factors that should be used when determining whether cleanups are required."

Some conservative sites speculated that Clinton might have thought the article was discussing a Trump administration policy.

"Chelsea Clinton (accidentally?) RIPS the Obama administration over EPA and lead," read Twitchy's headline.

But when a Washington Free Beacon reporter pointed out that Clinton was denouncing actions taken by an administration her mother once worked for, she responded that she aware of the fact. Clinton said the actions were "disappointing regardless of the administration" in power.
