1800 New Jersey Children Policies Canceled Because Of Obamacare

President Obama promised that Obamacare would provide all Americans with affordable, accessible healthcare, but New Jersey families say this just isn’t so.

Families of about 1800 New Jersey children were saddened to learn that their children’s health insurance had been dropped. The families received a letter informing them that due to rules stipulated by Obamacare, their child’s eligibility for the New Jersey Family Care Advantage Program would be discontinued on March 31.

Bob Miolta’s 16 year old son Robert was one of the children booted from his low cost health insurance plan. His plan was cancelled because under the new Obamacare law, healthcare plans must provide a slew of services, like drug treatment, mental health benefits, among others, even if the patient does not need them.

The Miolta family paid $160 a month for Robert’s old health insurance plan, but under a new plan, they will be forced to pay $300 to $400 a month, with deductibles ranging from $150 to $2000. "For a 16 year old kid, you’re never going to use that kind of deductible unless there is a tragedy," Miolta told Fox and Friends’ Steve Doocy.

Asked if they have been able to buy their son Robert health insurance, Miolta responded "We can’t…If he gets hurt, we’ll take him to the E.R. If it’s something minor, we will try to work with it at home."

Miolta said he feels abandoned by the federal government, and while he understands the need to provide uninsured Americans with healthcare, government has failed to do it correctly.

"It seems like no one cares, and it’s sad. My son, he’s the most important thing to me. I feel this, my wife feels it…As parents, it’s so painful to know we’re not caring for him in a way he needs to be cared for. I just wish someone would step up and make it right. I mean, it’s a great goal to insure people who don’t have insurance, but you don’t do it at the cost of people who did have it," Miolta explained.
