House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) followed the incorrect lead of a reporter Thursday in pronouncing the first name of Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry.
The name is pronounced STEFF-in, but Pelosi, and a reporter asking an inaudible question about him, both called him "Steven."
"Did I not mention his name on more than occasion when he wasn't here when the Warriors won?" Pelosi asked. "How about Stephen Curry?"
The Warriors, who won the 2015 NBA Finals, play across the bay from Pelosi's district in Oakland, and Curry was named the NBA Most Valuable Player this season. The Washington Free Beacon believes Pelosi ought to better know an athlete held in high esteem by her constituents.
