Charles Barkley Asks Biden How He Feels About the End of His and Obama's 'Reign'

April 2, 2016

Broadcaster and former NBA star Charles Barkley asked Vice President Joe Biden Saturday how he felt as the "reign" of him and President Obama comes to a close.

Biden and second lady Dr. Jill Biden were guests during pre-game coverage of Oklahoma and Villanova's national semifinal game on TBS.

Barkley, well known for his outspoken nature and a supporter of Obama, asked Biden, "Coming to the end of your reign, you and President Obama, is that a joy or a sadness?"

The term "reign" generally refers more to the tenure of a monarch than a president, but Biden did not appear fazed by Barkley's use of the term.

"A little of both," Biden said. "It's been a great, great honor, but both of us have decided we're going to stay deeply involved in things we care about when this is over. We won't be president and vice president, but we'll be focusing on the same things we focused on, associated with universities ... I'm going to be working on a cancer moonshot the rest of my life, so we're going to stay engaged, both of us.

"Education, military families," Jill Biden added.

Biden also revealed an impressive feat: He had both Villanova and Syracuse in the Final Four of his NCAA bracket. Syracuse is the first No. 10 seed ever to make it to the national semifinals.

Syracuse will face North Carolina in the other half of the Final Four.
