The emails Hillary Clinton received while serving as secretary of state are gushing with obsequious drivel from the hoards of sycophants who populate the Washington political establishment and suck voraciously at the Beltway firehose of real money and imagined prestige. Reading through them is enough to drive the average American to consider the thought that maybe ISIS has a point. Below are a few examples. Some are real, and in most cases Hillary requested they be printed out by a subordinate. Some are fake. See if you can tell the difference.
1. "If I don’t get to tell her personally, I wanted to ask you to pass on to the Secretary, if appropriate, that it’s been a great pleasure, privilege and real honor to work for her. I know she probably, and deservedly, hears this all the time, but it has been the highlight of my career to work with her and I appreciate her support and vision."
2. "I just watched the Secretary of State’s interview with Christiane Amanpour aired on Sunday morning and I am overjoyed at the effectiveness that exuded from the manner in which she so amazingly answered the questions."
3. "Your arrival in Kabul landed the front page picture in the NYT and sparked an on-line poll in Huff Post about your coat. At last check, its favorability rating is 77 percent."
4. "Please tell the secretary that her performance yesterday, both the words themselves and the striking compassion in her voice, had this old grouch on the verge of tears."
5. "Just so you know, my Twitter feed (I follow almost 2000 people and they are a very diverse lot) is strongly supportive of your appearance today, as has been everyone I have encountered, from my driver to students to my housekeep (a Republican)."
6. "Watching the hearings…all I can say is 'You go girl' !! Our Secretary is exemplary !!"
7. "Another birthday and you keep getting younger !! Hope you'll finally get the chance to enjoy some down time, but knowing you your schedule is packed and the jets are waiting on the runway. Knowing me, I'll be singing your praises wherever I go."
8. "You are so loved by many people and so well respected because of your strength, intelligence and humanity. Your accomplishments and contribution to the world has brought much hope and promise to the present and future of the U.S."
9. "I don't think I've ever seen anyone handle themselves with the grace, humility, and inspiring courage as you did during your 60 Minutes appearance - our princess Di, a total rock star. If you ever take a break from changing the world, Joan and I would love to have you and 42 over for dinner."
10. "The honest to goodness truth is: Aside from Carolyn, my four children, and my immediate family, I consider you to be the best friend and the best person I have met in my long life. You know that from the dedication and appreciation of you I have always felt and expressed to you over four decades."
11. "It seem almost silly to say this after following your career for so many years, but I must say your impeccable fashion sense—complemented, as always, by that winning smile—continues to amaze."
12. "Your entire State Department family in Washington and at all of our embassies and consulates around the world have been inspired by your unrelenting passion, dedication, sense of duty and mind boggling stamina!"
13. "Even my hairdresser who hardly ever watches the news told me how impressed she was by your elegant performance before the committee. Your strength and endurance are a true inspiration for the next generation (and the next and the next !) of young women leaders who will enjoy boundless opportunity in the world your vision has shaped for their futures."
14. "She is sensitive to the perspective of others - she doesn’t impugn motives and respects the interests of others - as was said about Atticus Finch in 'To Kill A Mockingbird': 'she can walk in other people’s shoes and see the world through their eyes.'"
15. "I was absolutely devastated to hear of your fall. Forgive me for saying that, at one particularly dark moment (and after a few glasses of wine) I found myself contemplating the prospect of a life devoid of your presence. It's a thought I couldn't bear to imagine, given all the joy your friendship has brought me over the years. I never feel more blessed than when - and I don't know manage it with your schedule - you find the time to check in on Charles, me and the kids, all of whom probably love you even more than I do, if that's possible.
16. "Love love love everything about the speech. Don't know how you do it. A grateful nation turns its eyes to Madam Secretary, our fearless champion."
17. "From Baghdad I’m watching you dine with the Queen—you look just gorgeous."
