House Democrats are absolutely freaking out about the upcoming midterm elections, a Free Beacon analysis has found.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has been sending out increasingly frantic fundraising emails in recent days, with one simple message: KOCH BROTHERS!
Emails with subject lines such as "STAGGERING setback" (i.e., Citizens United), dire warnings like: "WE CAN’T STOP THEM," and whacky .gifs such as this one:
A May 23 email with the subject line "HORRIFYING" warns that "If we don’t hit our $90,000 goal today, then consider all hope of winning a Democratic majority in November lost."
Another email sent on Memorial Day—subject line: "We know … SORRY!"—invites potential donors to freak out about the "HUGE hole in our Rapid Response Fund."
Another, sent Tuesday, warns that Democratic chances to retake the House will be "OBLITERATED" unless you donate some money right now. (Follow up: Can a near zero percent chance be OBLITERATED?)
A follow up sent hours later was even more dire. "We’re beginning to think we should just throw in the towel," the email reads. "We’re getting desperate." Democrats need your money to combat the GOP’s Koch-funded "dirty, lying attack ads," of the chances for a Democratic House in 2015 "will be dead in the water."
They may have a point.
