Wolf Blitzer challenged Sen. Mark Warner (D., Va.) and Senate candidate Tim Kaine Tuesday over the removal of pro-Israel language from the Democratic Party platform.
Released late Monday, the platform excised portions of the 2008 platform that declared Jerusalem the capital of Israel, that specified Palestinian "refugees" should be settled in a Palestinian state, and that Hamas should be isolated.
Kaine argued that Republicans are attempting to make the language's removal a wedge issue.
"I know the Republicans want to make this a wedge issue," Kaine said, "but one of the great things about U.S. support for Israel is that it's been bipartisan since Harry Truman -- a Democrat -- put the U.S. behind recognizing Israel within minutes of the Declaration of Statehood."
"I think that this Obama administration and this president are the strongest friend that Israel has," Warner said.
