President Donald Trump tweeted attacks on the mainstream media Monday morning, and also touted the size of the Trump base and his administration's accomplishments.

Trump's first tweet of the morning slammed the New York Times. He accused the publication of "failing," making "every wrong prediction" about him, and being "totally inept."

The Times recently speculated that Vice President Mike Pence was setting the stage for a potential 2020 presidential race should Trump not run.

"Today's article in [the Times] is disgraceful and offensive to me, my family, and our entire team," Pence said in a statement."The allegations in this article are categorically false and represent just the latest attempt by the media to divide this administration."

"The American people know that I could not be more honored to be working side by side with a president who is making America great again. Whatever fake news may come our way, my entire team will continue to focus all our efforts to advance the president's agenda and see him re-elected in 2020. Any suggestion otherwise is both laughable and absurd," his statement read, after listing some accomplishments he attributed to Trump's leadership.

Trump then took to defending the "Trump base."

Trump then defended his presence in New Jersey and attacked Sen. Richard Blumenthal's (D., Conn.) lies about serving in Vietnam.

Seven years ago, Blumenthal was called out for lying about serving in Vietnam.

"On a few occasions I have misspoken about my service and I regret that and I take full responsibility," Blumenthal said while surrounded by Vietnam veterans at a news conference in West Hartford, Conn. "But I will not allow anyone to take a few misplaced words and impugn my record of service to our country."
