Todd: Democrats ‘Really Blew It’ With Recruitment in Florida Senate Race

August 31, 2016

MSNBC host Chuck Todd told his panel on Tuesday that the Democrats "really blew it" in the Florida Senate race with their recruitment of Democratic Reps. Patrick Murphy and Alan Grayson as candidates.

"Democrats really blew it when it comes to recruiting in Florida," Todd said on his show MTP Daily. "They have two, they thought they had one half-decent candidate and he turned out to be a problematic. And, of course, their real nightmare would be Alan Grayson."

Murphy defeated Grayson by over 40 points on Tuesday in the Democratic Senate primary, which means that he will face Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) on the ballot in November.

Murphy has been endorsed by top Democrats like President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. He has also attached himself to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, telling reporters at his press conference Wednesday, "Yes, I trust her," when asked about the Clinton Foundation’s "pay-for-play" accusations.
