Tillerson on Rumors of Haley Being Next Secretary of State: I'm 'Planning to Hang Around'

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson dismissed rumors on Friday that U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley could be the next one to run the State Department.

Tillerson was being interviewed by ABC's David Muir, who asked Tillerson about the media reports.

"What do you say about those headlines?" Muir asked.

"I think we have a secretary of state currently, and I think he's planning to hang around," Tillerson said about himself.

Haley has become a major player in the Trump administration's foreign policy team since she assumed her post. She has taken on a leadership role at the U.N. in mobilizing the international community into enacting sanctions against North Korea for its nuclear activity.

The two diplomats are reportedly at odds over whether to recertify Iran's participation in the Iran nuclear deal made by the Obama administration. Haley is against the deal while Tillerson may be trying to preserve it.

Haley said Thursday that she did not want to be secretary of state and dismissed "chatter" she's endured throughout her career about what she will do next.
