Former George W. Bush adviser Karl Rove told Fox's Sean Hannity that Republicans in Congress need to use "every tool available" to keep President Obama from enacting an executive order on immigration, including defunding the immigration bill.
When asked how Republicans could stop executive amnesty by the Obama administration, ‘the architect' laid out a point-by-point plan.
"Put riders on appropriations bills that say ‘no money shall be spent to execute this policy,'" Rove said. "Pass a bill that specifically holds him accountable."
Rove also said Obama's widely expected executive order could be battled in the courts.
"I don't think he has the ability, the statutory authority, to do what he is suggesting, which is to say to a group of people who are here illegally, ‘My right as the President of the United States, I grant you either the ability to remain in the United States or citizenship,'" Rove said. "I don't think he has the statutory authority to do that, so we ought to use the power of legislation and we ought to go to the courts as quickly as possible."
