A top official at the Hillary Clinton presidential "campaign in waiting" has never met Hillary Clinton, he said in a Thursday interview.
Mitch Stewart, a former Obama campaign operative and adviser to Super PAC Ready for Hillary, made the remarks in a Wednesday interview with Politico’s Mike Allen.
Allen called the revelation "remarkable."
Allen: You’re called Ready for Hillary, you exist because of her, but there’s not a formal relationship. She could stop it, she hasn’t stopped it. What is the wink and nod?
Stewart: I don’t think there is a wink and nod. I mean, we are truly separate.
Allen: What has she told you personally?
Stewart: I have never met Secretary Clinton.
Allen: That’s pretty remarkable. I mean, you’re running Ready for Hillary. What if you don’t like her?
Stewart: That would not be a problem, Mike. That would not be a problem. I’d be more concerned that she wouldn’t like me.
