House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) called President Donald Trump the "deflector in chief" during an appearance on "This Morning" of CBS on Tuesday.
After discussing Trump's wiretapping claims, Pelosi said that Trump's Saturday accusations that the Obama administration wiretapped his phones during the election were an attempt to deflect conversations on other matters.
"He is the deflector in chief," Pelosi said. "He wants to deflect the fact that there's a Russian connection, personal, political or financial to him; he wants to deflect the fact that his ban is unpopular on Muslims coming into the country; he wants to deflect the fact that he has no jobs bill, no infrastructure bill, nothing."
"Do you think he's just making this up?" co-host Norah O'Donnell asked.
"Yes, I think he is," Pelosi answered.
Pelosi has tried to use the phrase "deflector in chief" as a talking point. But Pelosi herself deflected when she was asked to comment on a crude joke made by Rep. Cedric Richmond (D., La.) about White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway. Pelosi wouldn't condemn Richmond's comment when pushed about the issue.
