Pelosi Has Trouble Admitting Democrats Won't Work With Trump

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) had trouble admitting in an interview with CBS' John Dickerson on Thursday that Democrats won't work with President Donald Trump.

The House Minority Leader was pushed by Dickerson on the matter of bipartisanship. Pelosi said Trump's statements that Democrats would never work with him were not true, but could not say what she would work on with him.

Dickerson asked Pelosi what issues she could work with Trump on.

"Well, first of all, we're not working with anybody who says, ‘we're going to repeal the Affordable Care Act,’" Pelosi said. "Repeal? No. That's not going to happen."

"Well then he's right, basically," Dickerson said.

"No, no, he isn't," Pelosi said.

Pelosi went on to talk about health care, social security and the role of government.

"That has usually been a reasonable debate between Democrats and Republicans in the history of our country," Pelosi said. "With this president, we have the deconstruction of government."

Dickerson again asked if Democrats really would work with Trump. Pelosi went on to say that Trump had talked about infrastructure, tax reform and international trade agreements, but that Democrats won't do anything until Trump comes up with the plan first.
