Rep. Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) was easily reelected speaker of the House on Tuesday with a vote by the new 115th Congress.

Ryan, who was widely expected to win, received 239 votes from his fellow Republican lawmakers, with only one voting for somebody else. Rep. Tom Massie (R., Ky.) cast his ballot for Rep. Daniel Webster (R., Fla.).

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif) received 189 votes to be speaker from fellow Democrats. Four Democrats defected from voting for Pelosi and chose other members of their party.

Republicans control 241 seats in the House compared to 194 for Democrats.

This is Ryan's first full term as House speaker since he succeeded former lawmaker John Boehner of Ohio for the leadership post in October 2015.
