O'Rourke Makes Bid to Join Pod Save America, Drops F-Bomb in Concession Speech

November 7, 2018

Democratic Texas Senate candidate Beto O'Rourke told his supporters he was "so f—king proud" of them in his concession speech Tuesday night.

O'Rourke lost a closely watched race to Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas), again dashing long-held the hopes of Democrats for turning Texas blue. He set fundraising records and made Cruz work for the victory, but Cruz ultimately pulled out a three-point victory.

"I want to thank this amazing campaign of people, not a dime from a single PAC, all people, all the time, in every single part of Texas," O'Rourke said. "All of you showing the country how you do this. I'm so f—king proud of you guys!"

The crowd at his rally roared.

O'Rourke was known for his swearing on the campaign trail, a trait often remarked upon in the numerous glowing profiles surrounding his upstart campaign.

Jon Favreau, host of the "Pod Save America" podcast, expressed his appreciation for O'Rourke's challenge. Favreau and his fellow progressive podcast hosts often pepper their tweets and commentary with enthusiastic profanity.
