During an interview with WNPR FM on Tuesday, President Obama said the 2014 Senate map was the worst group of states since Eisenhower.
"In this election cycle, this is probably the worst possible group of states for Democrats since Dwight Eisenhower," Obama said.
Obama blamed potential Democratic Senate seat losses on the "arbitrary" nature of the Senate election cycle, which happens to put a number of states that "tilt Republican" up for grabs this year.
"There are a lot of states that are being contested where, they're, you know, they just tend to tilt Republican," Obama said. "Democrats are competitive, but they tend to tilt that way."
In the 1956 elections, Eisenhower won 41 out of 49 states against Illinois Democrat Adlai Stevenson.
